The FIFA World Cup is used to determine which football team is the best in the world (fifa). The 1st World Cup ever held was in Montevideo, Uruguay in July 1930 (infoplease). The majority of the teams playing in the World Cup were from North and South America, because it would be very costly and time consuming for some European countries to travel to Uruguay (wikipedia). A bracket was organized to determine the world champions. The first pool contained Argentina, Chile, France and Mexico(sports reference). Each team played the others once, and Argentina was the victor. The second pool contained Brazil, Bolivia, and Yugoslavia (sports reference). Again, each team played the others and Yugoslavia came out in top. The third pool was comprised of Uruguay, Peru, and Romania (sports reference). The teams played hard, but Uruguay was victorious. The fourth pool had the United States of America, Paraguay, and Belgium (sports reference). The USA dominated the other teams with an awesome performance. The semi finals pitted the USA against Argentina, and Uruguay against Yugoslavia (infoplease). The USA and Yugoslavia lost, and Argentina and Uruguay faced off for the World Cup Finals. Uruguay won the finals against Argentina 4-2 (fifa). This made Uruguay the 1st World Cup Champions ever (wikipedia).
